Dietitian
A paediatric dietitian plays a pivotal role in the management of food allergies, offering expert guidance to empower families to ensure that their child’s nutritional needs are met whilst also being able to enjoy food together.
Danel offers tailor made, evidence based, nutritional treatment and advice. She specialises in a wide range of nutritional concerns, which include supporting children and parents with managing food allergy, fussy eating, weaning, tube feeding, blended diets, nutrient deficiencies and poor growth.
The consultation with Danel comprises of a thorough and detailed assessment of your child and your nutritional concerns. A physical examination will be carried out and a full medical and diet history will be discussed in order to get a full picture of your child’s dietary needs. Based on the outcome of this assessment, Danel consequently provides treatment that can include, but is not limited to:
- Advice on how to avoid, nutritional deficiencies. This includes not only advice on how to manage this through diet but also through specific vitamins and supplements and their recommended doses.
- Education and counselling on navigating how to manage your child’s diet in daily life (including at school/nursery, eating out, travelling etc).
- Organising follow up testing (including blood tests) or appointments as deemed necessary.
Following the appointment, you will receive a written summary of the assessment and treatment plan so that you have the information needed to move forward with practical and clear action.
Food allergies in children pose unique challenges for families when it comes to managing their children’s diets and overall health and wellbeing. At Dr Helen Allergy we understand that navigating this can be very stressful for the whole family and we want to support families to feel in control when managing their children’s care.
