I am a medical doctor with almost 30 years’ experience in General Practice, acute medicine, and allergy. I trained at Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and spent several years in postgraduate training in acute medicine at teaching hospitals in the East End.
As a GP, I practiced in Balham and Wandsworth in South London, where I observed the frequent presentation of allergic symptoms in children and the limited resources available to address these challenges.
My journey took a profound turn when I became a mother and discovered that my eldest son had multiple severe food allergies. This personal experience deepened my interest in the field, and with encouragement from my son’s allergist, I decided to take on more specialist allergy training and I obtained my Master’s degree in Allergy from Imperial College, London.
I am currently a GP partner at Gillingham Medical Practice in North Dorset, where I also serve as a Clinical Director of our local Primary Care Network. For the past 10 years, I have been providing allergy advice at our practice, actively attending annual BSACI conferences, and staying connected with peers in the allergy community.
Outside of medicine, I am a busy mother to two teenage boys and, together with my husband, run a B&B and entertaining space business. I enjoy walking, playing tennis, and am an avid follower of several sports-—especially cricket.
I am really excited to have been invited to join Helen’s team at Ask Dr. Helen Allergy. I look forward to combining my clinical expertise and personal experience to reach out and support more families affected by allergies.
