Jen O’Donnell

I am the Lead Nurse at Dr Helen Allergy, bringing over 20 years of nursing experience, predominantly in Emergency and Acute Care.

My career in A&E has given me extensive experience in recognising and managing clinical emergencies, making decisions under pressure and, above all, keeping patients safe. I have also worked as a Matron, developing strong skills in clinical governance, risk management, leadership and quality improvement.

Education has always been an important part of my nursing practice. I am a Resuscitation Council UK instructor and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science Education, with a particular interest in supporting patients and colleagues to feel confident and informed about their care.

My passion for allergy care is also deeply personal. I am an allergy parent myself and have experienced the journey of supporting a young person receiving immunotherapy. This has given me a valuable understanding of allergy care not only from a clinical perspective, but also from the perspective of the patient and family living with allergies every day.

I am currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy, continuing to develop my specialist knowledge and skills in this field.

I am passionate about personalised, holistic care and believe that patients deserve the time and space to be listened to, understood and involved in decisions about their care. My aim is to combine specialist allergy knowledge with my experience in emergency care, safety, education and leadership to provide compassionate, individualised care for every patient.
